The South Camden Theatre Company Announces the Selection of Ray Croce, Sr. of Cherry Hill, NJ As Its New Interim Artistic Director.

CAMDEN, N.J. — The South Camden Theatre Company, a nonprofit professional theatre organization located in Camden, New Jersey announces the selection of a new Interim Artistic Director. Effective immediately, Ray Croce, Sr. has been chosen as the Company’s new Interim Artistic Director with a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees at their August board meeting.

Ray_Croce_srMr. Croce is employed as a Medical Dosimetrist for Cancer Treatment Centers of America – Eastern Regional Medical Center in Philadelphia PA. He lives in Cherry Hill, NJ.

Ray has spent more than 25 years involved in theater in various companies in New Jersey and Philadelphia as a managing director, producer, actor and director. His directorial credits at South Camden Theatre Company include “And Justice For All”, “Belmont Avenue Social Club”, “Indoor Picnic” and “Gemini”.

Ray also is a member of the Old Man Garage Band (OMGB) where he is the lead vocalist and plays keyboards, guitar and percussion. He is also a Fourth Degree Black Belt in Goju Ryu Karate.

“Ray has been an active member of the South Camden Theatre Company since its earliest days in the basement of the Sacred Heart Church. He’s been an actor, director, volunteer and most recently a Trustee on the Board of Directors, beginning in October 2015. “Ray joined the board after helping with fundraising and immediately began serving the Company as trustee and a volunteer of the fundraising committee.”, states Board President, Robert Bingaman.

“Ray’s artistic talents and background make him the perfect candidate as the new Interim Artistic Director.  We evaluated several very qualified candidates, and Ray was the clear choice for the position. Work continues on a long-term strategic plan and a search for an individual to fill the position permanently will be part of that effort. In the meantime, SCTC is lucky to have Ray step in to guide us during this transition,” states Board Trustee William Harden  .”

Ray Croce stated, “I hope that during my tenure I can move us forward in a positive direction. That I can select pieces of theatre that express our mission, while at the same time entertain our audience. Most importantly that we can become a good neighbor in the community.” He continued, “I am excited, encouraged, and a little scared, but as an actor you learn to enjoy that feeling of being scared. I am scared every time I walk on stage, it reminds me I’m alive.”
