FRANKLY FATHER’S DAY — A SINGING AND SWINGING JAZZ EVENT FEATURING THE FRANK SINATRA SONGBOOK
Philadelphian Bruce Klauber’s credentials would take up a book to cover, but to list a few, he is an author, editor, biographer, educator, recording artist, producer, and not a bad classic pop and jazz vocalist either.
Klauber along with friends and world class jazz musicians: pianist James Dell’Orefice, bassist Bruce Kaminsky, and drummer Tony Green will present Frankly, Father’s Day this coming Sunday, June 17th. They will be presenting some new material and many old favorites from Frank Sinatra’s songbook for this special Father’s Day event.
The event will take place at the Waterfront South Theatre at 400 Jasper Street, in Camden, NJ at 3:00 pm. The cost for the event is just $25.00. Beer and wine will also be for sale at this event. So, bring dad and treat him to this incredible singing and swinging musical event after brunch or before dinner.
Klauber himself is a drummer, vibes man, saxophonist, band leader and singer when not writing, editing and producing videos, books or CDs.
Klauber’s most famed book is probably the proverbial bible on the life of Gene Krupa called The World of Krupa. He has also produced dozens of videos, CDs and articles on various jazz legends. Among his early cherished experiences was (as a teenaged drummer in Philadelphia) working with the famed sax star, Charlie Ventura, who also happens to be from Philadelphia. Klauber has written and/or edited for Modern Drummer, Downbeat, Jazz Times, Atlantic City Monthly, Video Insider and Video Home Viewer.
He has contributed to and/or edited dozens of regional and national publications, including FILM Bulletin, Video Insider, Down Beat magazine, Jazz Times magazine, Modern Drummer magazine and ICON magazine. His magazine and newspaper columns, “The Jazz Scene” and “Backstage,” have been running continuously in various publications for many years. As a video producer, his many projects, including those on Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, and Lionel Hampton, won many awards and are considered landmarks in the field of jazz scholarship. Klauber is also the public relations director for the nonprofit organization, Jazz Bridge.
As a musician, he played his first professional job as a drummer at the age of eight. In a 50-plus year career, he’s performed with dozens of jazz giants, including Al Grey, Charlie Ventura, Joanie Sommers, and Milt Bucker. He co-founded the All-Star Jazz Trio in 1972, and that group is still going strong.
